What to expect
Join us Sundays at 9:00 a.m.
Welcome! We’d love to have you as our guest at one of our worship services; in fact, we’ve planned for you.
Our services are rooted in God’s big story of redemption and restoration through Jesus. If you’re attending for the first time, you’ll find that our services are both liturgical and accessible. Just as Mayfield Heights is a community with a unique blend of old traditions and new experiences, so our services incorporate the rich resources of past and present—songs, readings, prayers, liturgies, etc.
Our services seek to guide worshipers through the Story of God: Creation, Fall, Redemption, and Restoration. We believe that as we rehearse this real story week by week through songs, prayers, hearing the Bible preached, and celebrating the sacraments, we will become a people shaped by the story of Jesus. Story Church is a place to be your real self together with other people, and a place to experience real change through stepping into the Story of Jesus. The service culminates in emphasis on the death and resurrection of Jesus through weekly celebration of the Lord’s Supper.
We desire to create a hospitable place that is restful for every type of person. Whatever your religious beliefs, profession, ethnicity, culture, political perspective, marital status, or music taste, we want our church to be a place where you can process and grow in your thoughts about God and the role he has for you in his world.
Frequently Asked Questions
How long are your services?
Our worship services typically go from 9:00 to 10:30.
Do you celebrate Communion?
We celebrate communion (the Lord’s Supper) every week as the climax of our worship gathering. In this meal of bread and juice, we celebrate, remember and proclaim the death of Christ until He returns. This sacrament is available to everyone who trusts in Jesus and is in good standing with a gospel-teaching church, as it is a family meal for the family of God.
What should I wear?
People come to our church dressed in anything from shorts and a t-shirt to a suit and tie. Please come however you feel most comfortable.
What is there for my children?
A nursery is provided for children ages 0-3. and Children’s Church is provided for children ages 4-8 during the sermon. Of course, children are welcome to attend the service with their families! We love children at Story Church. For more info, visit our Story Kids page.
Our values
Restful
When people worship we want them to feel like they are walking into one of our homes. It is our joy to extend the welcome of Jesus to our neighbors who come visit us. We want them to feel like expected guests into our lives. As we enter into worship, we want them to be pleasantly surprised by the transcendent presence of God in our midst, who has invited us into his family.
Real
Story Church is a place to be yourself; your highs and lows. We believe that your story matters to God, and so we don’t want to shy away from who we really are. We also mean that when you step into the Story of Jesus, the Spirit of God begins to make real change in our lives.
